As a Spinnaker Consulting Group advisor, Buddy Adler brings more than 40 years of financial services experience with a focus on risk, credit, and operations. Buddy’s experience includes interacting with regulators, internal and external auditors and employees of all levels within organizations from front line agents to boards of directors. Buddy has managed all aspects of the lending process from sales, origination, credit, operations, collections, and call centers. With a keen focus on improving performance and profitability, he is highly regarded for his ability to streamline operations and oversee process improvements and has supervised dozens of system upgrades.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Buddy worked for Huntington Bank, State Farm Insurance, Nationwide Insurance, and several other bank and mortgage companies. Buddy’s numerous accomplishments include successful resolution of regulatory issues and the creation and refinement of lending and credit policies, vendor management, and Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses. He has led the Requests for Proposals selection and installation of technology innovations, in areas of originations, credit, operations, and collections.
His efforts have realized efficiencies for numerous employers, resulting in revenue growth of over 100%, realized by partnering with sales associates/leadership, improving training, and the implementation of sales performance metrics. Buddy has overseen multiple vendor relationships, and when necessary, successfully outsourced functions. He has led the due diligence in RFP, selection, contract negotiations, service level agreements and vendor scorecard reviews. He has managed operational units of up to 500 employees in multiple locations and successfully managed budgets in excess of $25M, with year over year savings of 15%, by improving processes. Additionally, by implementing automated credit scoring and imaged technology, Buddy enabled a client to realize over $5M in savings.
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Buddy is a graduate of the University of Miami and holds a degree in Business Management. He is a fan of the Miami Marlins and “The U” (which is hard to do living in Columbus, Ohio). Happily married to Ruth, they are enjoying their empty nest, now that their 2 children live in New York City. Buddy dedicates his free time to serving on the boards of several non-profit organizations and enjoys traveling and working in the yard.
