As a Spinnaker Consulting Group Advisor, Steve Bank brings over 30 years of governance, risk and controls experience in Big 4, Global Accounting Firm and Fortune 500 company financial services environments. Specific areas of experience include Sarbanes Oxley, internal audit, operational and enterprise risk and controllership helping companies understand their business processes and developing internal control solutions to mitigate areas with high residual risk. Throughout his career, Steve’s analytical acumen and audit experience has enabled him to help clients better understand, evaluate and improve operational processes. Steve is very hands on and has successfully lead teams as well as operating as an individual contributor / subject matter expert. He has a demonstrated ability to partner with teams to achieve results in a timely manner.
Steve started his career with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) where he grew his audit, project management, leadership and client service skills. During his tenure, he became engaged in Risk Advisory Services where he provided internal audit, risk assessment process evaluation and improvement services to financial services clients. While working within financial services organizations within the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defense, Steve has provided implementation and evaluation of Sarbanes Oxley and/or Risk and Control Self-Assessment programs for over 60 organizations including more than 20 financial services entities such as JP Morgan Chase, Freddie Mac, USAA, Royal Bank of Canada and Bread Financial (formerly Alliance Data). He has also supported operational risk, enterprise risk and internal audit functions with reviews of Heightened Standards, Finance and Accounting, Risk Management, Consumer Lending activities.
Steve is a graduate of Ohio University, with a B.B.A. in Accounting and is Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor. Steven resides in New Albany, Ohio with his wife Shani, children Avery and Corey, and dog Penny. He enjoys daily workouts, playing tennis and racquetball, traveling, theater – including traveling to NYC to see his daughter perform, attending Ohio State sporting events and spending time with friends and family.
